Are You Wishing Or Believing?
January 13, 2009
There are a couple of points in “Think and Grow Rich” that Bob Proctor said changed his life. Napoleon Hill wrote in his Chapter on Desire: “There is a difference between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it.” “No one is ready for a thing until they believe they can acquire it.”
How many times do we ponder our goals and think “wouldn’t that be nice.” We sit and daydream and for some reason nothing seems to happen. The goal sits and gathers dust and we eventually move on to other goals or feel bad because we have not achieved what we set out to do.
Let me ask you this, do you actually believe that you will accomplish your goals? If you say “I will be a millionaire,” do you actually believe it? Can you see yourself living as a millionaire, doing the things that a millionaire does? Or do you have some vague, misty concept of what that life is like and merely think about having the million dollars only if you were to win the lottery?
This is not enough. You can’t just dream. Your dreams have to turn into a reality in your mind. When you think about your goal it needs to be like a movie in your head. Almost like you are replaying a memory, smell the smells, feel the breeze and all other senses you can engage. Pretend that you are stepping into a virtual reality machine and really “live” in that mental movie.
This is the only way to switch from wishing to being ready to receive a goal. Bob Proctor realized that he had been wishing for things as a boy but he never really believed he could receive them. He could not see himself with the new bike or winning a baseball game. Bob realized that he was not ready for the good that he desired. He was not ready for what he really wanted. He was wishing but he wasn’t ready.
I recently went out and toured multi-million dollar homes. I had no concept of what living in one of these homes would be like. In fact I had never even been inside one. How could I imagine living in that type of a house without ever walking through one? One of the best things you can do for yourself is go take tours of homes, sit in nice cars and go out to fancy restaurants. This will give your mind some mental muscle to help you “live” in your mental movie. Take action and go out and do some of these exercises this weekend. You will be so happy you did.

Perform More Tasks Of Higher Value
January 11, 2009
“Perform more and more tasks of higher value, and delegate, delay, outsource and eliminate tasks of lower value.” ~ Brian Tracy
This important advice from Brian Tracy is something you should take a look at. Are you currently doing more than you need to? Can you delegate any of the activities that are consuming your time? Often when we start a new business or work on a project we believe that we have to do everything ourselves. We think that everything has to be “perfect” and “just right.” This just isn’t the case. Things do not need to be perfect or just right. They merely have to provide great service and fulfill a solid need that your customer has.
To implement Brian’s advice take a look at what you are spending your time on. For example can you delegate the grocery shopping, watch a little less t.v. or hire someone to help you with paperwork? Doing this will help you focus on your core business and more importantly will help you focus on completing the tasks which advance your business and increase your income.
I encourage you to break all your activities into higher and lower value tasks. Then delegate or eliminate the ones that eat up your time.

I Bargained With Life For A Penny
January 11, 2009
I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.

Why I Hired A Life Coach To Help Me Fight The Recession And Expand My Business
December 25, 2008
What Happened
When we first met my coach took the time to get to know me. She did not ask me what I wanted to accomplish or what my goals were. I thought this was a little surprising at first but I now understand why she did it. Instead of rushing in to save the day, she wanted to understand what was holding me back in life. By understanding what my struggle points were, she could better craft a plan to help me move forward.
My Search For “The One”
It took me awhile to find a life coach that I clicked with. One of the biggest criteria for me was personal responsibility. Would the coach call me back when they said they would? Would the coach follow up on a led that I gave them telling them that I wanted to work with them? And most importantly were these coaches demonstrating in their own life the type of results I wanted? Were they happy, healthy, wealthy, were they genuinely nice people and lastly did they have great relationships in their lives?
I had also made the decision that I personally wanted to work with a woman coach because women have unique concerns that a male coach might not always take seriously or fully understand. This is in no way intended to disparage a male coach, it was just a personal preference I had at this time in my life. I have had male coaches before and they were wonderful mentors.
The “Aha Moment”
After contacting a few women life coaches that met my criteria I was getting no where with finding the coach I wanted to work with. I put the thought in the back of my mind and continued working on my different projects and goals. Then on a cruise in the Caribbean I had the good fortune to run into a friend / acquaintance that did life coaching. I was a little nervous but I asked her at dinner if she would coach me and she to my delight said yes. Earlier that week I had watched her interact with people and more importantly observed how she connected with me personally. She was warm, gracious and had built a life for herself that I wanted to emulate. She was someone I could look up to and someone I wanted to work with deeply.
The Coaching Calls
Her coaching started off at my pace and was not a preset agenda she led all her clients through. It was truly personalized and was built for me and for what I wanted. She was also accessible and responded to my questions and concerns quickly. I did not have to hunt her down and felt like I was her only client. The sessions completely focussed on me and what I wanted.
Making The Decision To Hire a Coach
You have to first understand where you are and how you got there before you can really rocket yourself to success. My coach helped me see things about myself that I did not recognize. Now don’t get me wrong, I am no stranger to personal development and self-improvement materials. I am an avid reader and I personally coach people to help them reach their goals. Because of this I understand that to really get great results, I had to practice what I preach and get myself a formal life coach.
You should really sit down and think about whether or not you are hitting the goals that you set for yourself. And more importantly are you merely setting goals you think you can achieve? Your goals should be a stretch, something to reach for and challenge yourself with. Not something that you can clearly see yourself achieving. Your goals have to scare you a little bit and make you a tad nervous, otherwise you are not thinking big enough.
Trade Your Life For Something Big
Remember that you are trading your life for the goals that you set for yourself. Each day you give up should be worth it. When you look back at your life you want to see great accomplishments and a truly fulfilled life, not a life that was lived in the shadows or played it safe.
Think of the type of life your really want to lead and look at how you are living now. Do you think that your current habits, actions and thoughts are congruent with what you want to create in your life? What can you do to bring those three things into alignment.
Set aside a few minutes each day to work on and learn about how you can reach your goals. Once you start to change your habits, actions and thoughts, your whole life will change and you will be able to create the wealth your deserve in your life.
